This past weekend we had returned from our 4-day long camp up at the Discovery Center. We had a whole lot of fun. We did many things up there that were all great, but now I am going to tell you about three of the things that I thought was best about the camp.
The thing that I thought was the best of it all was the kickball game that we had. It was a lot of fun. We divided into teams based on the individual groups that we were put in. One of the best parts about the game to me was when Mr. M kicked the ball straight out to me in center field and I caught it. Every one thought that it was a one-time catch and that the next time that I probably would miss it. When Mr. M came up again, I was in the same place, he pointed to right field to indicate where he was aiming to kick it, but again it came straight to me. The next time, the same thing happened. I had caught Mr. M's ball three times in a row and that had kind of started a little rivalry. He would kick it to me, and I would kick it to him. I don't think either one of us caught the other's ball again after that.
The other thing that I had liked was the photography hike. I don't have any of the pictures I took right now, but I will post them in another blog post when I can. It took a while to get to the point we had decided to stop at, about 2 hours. We all got some good pictures and it was a nice easy hike. The only thing was that by that time it was about 12:30, so we were all getting a little hungry, then we realized it took us 2 hours to get here, and it would probably take 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes to get back. It ended up only taking us 15 minutes, we must have done a lot of stopping on the way there!
The third thing we did that I liked was the ginger pulling. I liked it because it was not that hard, but it took up time, time that would have been wasted doing nothing. Those few hours that we spent on it felt a lot faster than you would have thought. It was nice and easy and at times fun. Over all, we picked over 5,000 ginger in only 3-4 hours. It was nice to do and was more entertaining then you would have thought.
Over all the camp was a blast and I wish that we could do it, or something similar, again. It would be fun to do it again. Well, see you later, bye!
I am in 8th grade in my school's Advanced Media class. I love this class and I have been having lots of fun in it. This past year we went to San Diego, where STN was held, and the year before it was in Orlando. This year it was in Atlanta, Georgia.
