Today I am supposed to talk out what I would like to change the bell schedule to. First of all I will tell you what times I would change school to, and why. Then I will describe the block schedule that would go with that. Finally, I will say why I feel that this combo is the best.
I think we should definitely shorten the days. I would shorten the days down to 8:00 to 1:30. I think that this would be good because then there is still enough time to get what is needed done, with much shorter days. This would be every school day of the week, except Wednesday. On Wednesdays, school would end at 1:00.
With school from 8 to 1:30, we would have our 4 core classes, advisory, lunch, and recess. On regular days, the schedule would be advisory for 20 minutes, 8 to 8:30, 3 minute passing, block 1 for 63 minutes, 8:33 to 9:36, 3 minute passing, block 2 for 63 minutes, 9:39 to 10:42, recess for 15 minutes, 10:42 to 10:47, 3 minute passing, block 3 for 63 minutes, 10:50 to 11:53, then lunch for 30 minutes 11:53 to 12:23, 3 minute passing, then finally block 4 for 64 minutes, 12:26 to 1:30. On Wednesdays, it would be exactly the same but there would be no advisory, and the recess to block 3 passing and the lunch to block 4 would be 2 minutes, instead of three.
I think that this schedule would work out good because many kids would like to have more electives than just two, and also, many kids want shorter days and shorter classes. There might be less time in a class, but if you think about it, kids would most likely learn better and more if they knew their school day would be shorter, which would lead to more productivity, which makes it so less time is needed to learn a concept.
I think that this is a great schedule that many students would love to have. I never knew until now how difficult it is to make a school schedule. I am done for now, so come back soon to check out some more. Bye!
I am in 8th grade in my school's Advanced Media class. I love this class and I have been having lots of fun in it. This past year we went to San Diego, where STN was held, and the year before it was in Orlando. This year it was in Atlanta, Georgia.
