With being in an honors class, you have to expect surprises. Some surprises from this year is one, that I like doing news stories much more than I thought, two, I never knew how amazingly hard it is top get short film filming done when not everyone is 100% dedicated, and three, how it gets harder and harder every year you are in media.
When I first joined media 2 years ago, I thought I was going to like the movie trailers, music videos, and short films better, but turns out that this year I decided that I like news stories better. This was a major surprise to me because everyone would complain about having to do the news stories, so I thought that they were some horrible things. When I found out that I liked the more, and now that I am doing a short film, I have found that it is much easier to do, you need no actors, it is done all in one day usually, it can be done in 5 hours, and the filming is very simple shots, which is one of the parts that I don't like.
Another surprise from this year is from this quarter, and I only experienced it because I chose to do a short film. It is much harder than you would think to film with a group of friends who are not all focused on getting it done fast. When even one doesn't care about getting it done fast, others get sidetracked by them and join them, and then it goes downhill from there.
What I have seen, at least for me, as you stay in media, the class always seems to get harder. You would think it would be getting easier because of all the new technology, but it doesn't. I think the cause of this is you getting better at the class, so you are naturally given more challenges to keep the class interesting. Sometimes you will be overestimated and you will be given a harder task, or sometimes it just because you are being pushed. That is why I think it has gotten slightly harder for me.
I can't wait for more surprises for next year! Just to let you know, this is the last week of blogs for the year. There is still my free blog, and I will still need to post my 4th quarter project up, so don't forget about this place yet, just hold on another week or two. See you later, bye!
I am in 8th grade in my school's Advanced Media class. I love this class and I have been having lots of fun in it. This past year we went to San Diego, where STN was held, and the year before it was in Orlando. This year it was in Atlanta, Georgia.
