For this blog we are supposed to write about what we can do for the next STN practice, which this was supposed to be about the one yesterday, but I didn't get to it until now. So instead, I will add on some things to the topic. I will say what I thought I could help out with before the practice started, and then something similar to that that I actually helped my team out with if I didn't help them out in the way I thought I would.
The first way I thought I could help out my team was by helping to make up the story based on the topic. I didn't really help out with that too much because I couldn't make it until about 20 minutes after because I had a band performance (solo) at the school and then I would walk over to the library, but instead, they already knew what they were going to do and they came to me. The topic was "practice makes perfect", so they did it on a student in the band. The part that I helped them with that is related to what I thought I would help them with was the fact that I knew some of the band students there, so I kind of had an idea of who would be good for our story.
Another thing I thought I could help with was doing some more of the filming. It turns out that Brandon did much more of the filming than he had done in the previous practice, so I wasn't too much of a help with the filming as I could have been. What I did help with instead was that I knew the person we chose to interview well, so both of us were comfortable talking to each other, so I was the one asking questions instead.
One other, and final, thing that I thought I could have helped with was the editing. I didn't do a ton of the editing, but I did come up with about half of the story line of the editing. I was a help in the editing, but just not in the way I thought I would have been. So that is another way I was able to help my team.
After a great practice, you realize that you didn't quite help out as you might have thought you would, and that is exactly what happened to me. So next time you practice for anything in a group, be more open to ways you can help your team, even if you didn't expect to see yourself doing that. Well, bye for now!
I am in 8th grade in my school's Advanced Media class. I love this class and I have been having lots of fun in it. This past year we went to San Diego, where STN was held, and the year before it was in Orlando. This year it was in Atlanta, Georgia.
