Last week, we had our first STN practice of the year. We did the practice on the Veterans Day holiday on Wednesday. It was mostly the same for me as last year, but just a little different.
We had gotten our new teams, Kolten is still with me on Spot Feature, but Mia Matsunaga joined the team because Brandon is no longer with us. We worked pretty well together, we had no problems at all. It was a good set up. The main difference is that I am now the leader because I am now the 8th grader of the team.
We had a bit of a hard time getting a story. We walked around for about an hour before anyone really started showing up at Kalapaki beach. There were a few couples, but the ones we asked did not want to be interviewed. Finally we found a couple where the husband didn't mind getting interview, but his wife did not want to be. We only had about 30 minutes left after we found him, but he gave short answers and not really what we wanted. We finished the interview, and he did not really understand what we wanted him to do for us to get b-roll.
Even though we didn't have too great of a story, we made due with what we had. We made the story the best we could, but it did not turn out too great. Normally we finish about 30 to 45 minutes before the deadline, but we had so much work to make the audio better and finding the right sound clips from his interview that we did not finish until less than 10 minutes before the deadline.
We tried our best, but we did not do too great, but we got the most out of what we had. We worked well together, but this practice wasn't the best. We still have a few more practices, what else are practices for, trial, error, better, repeat.
I am in 8th grade in my school's Advanced Media class. I love this class and I have been having lots of fun in it. This past year we went to San Diego, where STN was held, and the year before it was in Orlando. This year it was in Atlanta, Georgia.
