For this blog topic I thought I should talk about Final Cut Pro 10 and how awesome I think it is. It is so much easier to use then Final Cut Pro 7 for one reason because you can edit the clip anywhere you can listen to the clip. To add to what it has taken out of Final Cut Pro 7 that most editors don't like is rendering, there is now auto rendering, saving, there is auto save too, and importing taking forever, you now can see the clips and start editing them while they are still importing! It is so easy and uncomplicated that I have only watched about the first 3 chapters of Final Cut Pro 10 tutorials and I can already easily make a whole news story. What makes it even better is that it is similar to 7 so I already know how to edit the storyline in a basic way, with only knowing basic tool that are in Final Cut Pro 10. I think that the new Final Cut Pro 10 is just an amazingly simple way to get editing done in a short time period.
Our 1st quarter projects are due on Wednesday! Everyone gets stressed out when their projects are behind and almost everyone is. I am one of those people behind on their projects. First, I will tell you about how stressed I am and why. Then, I will tell you some tricks to help with stress. I will finally tell you how that stress will come to an end for me.
I never really get too stressed over things. I never really have before. It is hard to never to be at least a little stressed every once and a while. I am not too stressed and that is because I have two whole class periods and 2 days after school to get it done. I also have a decent first draft.
Some ways that keep me from getting stressed is by just simply keeping calm and thinking that I will make it in time and that it will be okay. Another way is by planning out how everything will work out in my head. Another way is by knowing I have enough knowledge and skills to get it done in a short time if it comes to it.
I know that my stress will come to an end and that it already basically has. I will be able to get it done better and have the project ready for Hiki No and class due date. From what I can see right now in my head is that I will get it done on time.
I hope that everyone does a good job on their project and I wish you all good luck. I know mostly everyone is stressed about it and don't worry about the stress, it's natural.
My project has been ok. I say that for a couple of reasons. First I will tell you were we are. The next will be about what we will do to catch up. The final will be reasons I think we can finish this on time.
We are at the editing part of our project. We are at the beginning of editing and plan to finish on Tuesday. We have a goal to finish it all on Wednesday, well at least the first draft. It should not be too hard because we only need to edit about half and we need to record voice overs and stand-ups.
To catch up, we will work hard to finish editing our first draft. We also plan to finish the voice-overs and stand-ups after if we have time on Tuesday. We should be able to finish by the end of the week.
We will be able to finish on time for many reasons. One is because it is almost impossible for us not to finish by Friday. We also only need a little bit more to do. We will be able to get the first draft done soon.
I know we will be able to finish our project on time. I also know that we will be able to get it done with a good job. Come back soon for another blog for the next week.
Aloha Uncle Toyo and Family,
Thank you so much for the new laptops. I love the new laptops because they are really helpful. I want to tell you about what they can help me with, what they already have helped me with, and what it was like without them.
With the new laptops, I can do many more things. One is being able to take home a laptop almost any day I want to work on something that I need to get done. Another thing is that I can use Final Cut Pro 10. We only had Final Cut Pro 10 on one laptop and all the other MacBooks and iMacs had 7.
Even with only having the laptops for a short time, I have already done a lot of things on it. One thing I have done is taking it home and working on various projects. Some are blog posts, working on my quarterly project, and also working on our Inside Scoop radio announcements. These new laptops will make a difference in our class.
Without the new laptops, it was harder to get things done. We only had 9 laptops and we would have to share between partners and that would be one time a semester. We only could use 7 of them at the beginning of the year because one was for our Inside Scoop radio announcements only and we didn't get another until halfway through the school year.
I thank you again for the new laptops and the rest of the equipment that you have provided for us. I will like to promise you that they will all be put to good use.
This past week my Inside Scoops were due and it was easy to edit and teach Kallen how to edit, record, and make the scripts for it. Kallen did a pretty decent job making the script and editing his part. I only taught him the basics of editing and left him on his own, but he made it pretty good. I still have part of our Friday Inside Scoop to finish editing and send in. It acually takes longer then you would expect, ecspecially when you have to do two of them.I will post a link below to my Monday Inside Scoop below incase you would like to listen to it. Well I better get finished with the Inside Scoop now so I will see you later!
Here is the link to my Monday Inside Scoop.
This week I need to talk about the new announcements. I have already said some things about it in a past blog, and now I will say some more things. First I will say what we do. Secondly I will tell you what I have had to do. Then I will tell you what I think of the new announcements.
Everyone who is working that week has to come in at 7:15 in the morning and we have to practice the announcements. The announcers also come in and practice with us. We have all the same jobs but a new one was added, Elmo. The person who does the Elmo uses the computer and goes through the Hana Mai Kai recipients power point during the opening and so we also all have to create new openings.
So far, I have worked the morning announcements every week because I was filling in for someone or doing my own part. The first week, my opening was played and I filled in for the person who did the technical director. I also had to figure out how to run the new opening and how to get the music playing in the background during the power point. I also had to teach the titler what to do. The second week it was the same thing, the only thing different was that I did not work the whole week. The third was my turn to work. I taught them how to do it and then I had to work floor manager.
With all the new things, I think that the announcements are the same as last year. For me though, it wont be the same until everyone knows how to do the new opening. The good thing is that I kind of like doing the announcements. I think it is fun to work them, unless I have one of the more boring jobs.
I think that the announcements are just as fun as last year when it was different. Over all it didn't change much at all for us.I enjoy doing the announcements and wouldn't mind doing it more often. I am running out of time and I still have other important things to do so I will see you later! Bye!
For my project we have interviewed one of our interviewees already and still need to interview another. We also need to make our scripts because they are due very shortly. I think we are going to be a little late on our paper work but I think that we will catch up during the editing time. I think we will be able to make the deadline of the final project though. It might be hard but I know that we will get our project done on time.
For this bog post I was asked to write about the scariest thing I have ever done. The scariest thing that I have ever done I probably snipe hunting with my scout troop, also known as our initiative. First I will tell you what happened before the major part. Second I will tell you the rest of what happened. Finally I will tell you what happened at the end.
Snipe hunting is basically catching these rabbit like animals that are kind of like they are on steroids, as everyone in my troop describes them, and they have glowing red eyes. Almost all the organizations at my church go snipe hunting on campouts. First we waited for dark. Then we brought down duck tape because there is something in duck tape that keeps the snipes from hurting you. We went down a nature trail up at the boy scout campgrounds up in Koke'e an they tied Kenyon and I, another person my age who hasn't gone snipe hunting yet, to a tree using the duck tape and they went down the trail a little more to scare the snipes up the hill towards us.
Now for the start of the terror. They then start screaming in pain (the manly way, more like loud grunts) and saying they were scratched or bit and they could not get back up the hill. One persn even stepped on one of the eggs of the snipes. Some could make it up, others could not. The ones who have done it before started to take us back up to the camp, there was a catch though, we could not use flashlights. The lights made the snipes angry so we had to make it up the overgrown nature trail without light. We finally made it up and then the experienced snipe hunters went down to get the other people who were lost. they slowly started coming up with the others, some making it back up on their own. Knowing that anytime the snipes could jump on you from the trees,, claw you on the legs, bite your legs, or even drag you away is a very freaky thing to know.
Now for the part that made the hunt all worth it, for the others at least. We all sat around our fire and the older kids said, " It's all a prank.". I then laughed at myself and how scared I was. We then started to talk about fault that we noticed that would have given it away if we knew it was a prank.
Most people would think we would get mad and want revenge on them, but we had fun thinking back on what happened and we knew that they all went through our initiative too. We all would look back to our first time snipe hunting and have a laugh about ourselves. I was so freaked out during the hunt. I can't wait until I am on the other side of the prank.
I am in 8th grade in my school's Advanced Media class. I love this class and I have been having lots of fun in it. This past year we went to San Diego, where STN was held, and the year before it was in Orlando. This year it was in Atlanta, Georgia.
