Just like Mr. M is always saying, procrastination is very bad. A video that I found on Vimeo while I was looking for a cool short film caught my attention. This video was titled "Procrastination". When I saw this I decided to watch it. In this video, there is animated scenarios that you do when you procrastinate. It is a lot like the video "To this Day", a video about bullying they showed at school, with all the voice overs, and especially how they got the message out. They both start out a bit confusing and you wonder, "What are the trying to get at?". Then in they end they both sum it all up in a few words that solve every question you might have about it. I have also just thought that this might be the perfect style of PSA that could be really impactful. You should check out these two videos, which you might have already seen "To This Day" already, but you should also check out the other. Hope you enjoy, bye!
This fourth quarter is very busy for me in media. First I still have to get my fourth quarter project filming and editing done. I also have to start working on our next inside scoop because that 4 weeks start date has already passed. To add even more to that, I also have to help edit the Kalaheo School play, which my radios partner and my 4th quarter project partner is also doing. With all of this it will be crazy. The fourth quarter project will probably take up most of my time, because right now that is the most important to me. My inside scoops will probably take up some more time, but not more than my project. I think the Kalaheo School play will take up the least of my time because there are 4 of us for that, and 2 of us for every else I have to do. Wish me luck, bye!
For this blog, we were asked to tell about which video of ours we would like to show for the family night, and why that one. First I will say which one I would choose and a little about it. Then I will tell you why I would choose that one. Finally, I will tell you some alternatives if I can't use that one and why.
I am thinking about my fourth quarter project, The Master Plan, for the family night. It is a short film about a group of kids who were trained at a young age to become secret agents, but then another group of kids who had the exact same training as them learn of their past and they turn to the dark side and from there on out it is your typical movie with a bomb that could blow up the whole island, good working against evil, and all of that.
I would choose my fourth quarter project because I feel really confident about it. I also feel like it is the project that I will enjoy the most. I just think that it will be the best. I think that it is the most complex one of all the ones I have done before.
If I can't use my fourth quarter project because Dalson wants to, then I will most likely choose our Spot Feature video. If that one is taken, then I will most likely use my first quarter news story because I don't like my PSA very much, and both of my first semester videos are good, but I just like our first quarter better, and I know Kallen would want to use the second quarter one because he really likes and I know he has worked hard on it.
Over all, I would really like to use my fourth quarter short film for the family night that will be coming up soon. I will post our script right below if you want to get a better idea of what it will be like. Bye!
Just recently I watched a sort-of-old movie from 2012 called Source Code. It is one of the few films these days that have really confusing plots that leave you with so many questions that leave you wanting more. Yes, it might be confusing, but don't think that it is not a good movie, because it slowly answers all the questions you could have about it, and in the end, it makes a lot of sense. With this technique that they used it makes people interested in it, and it makes them want to watch it all once they see one part. If we could figure out, and make one, how to do a film like this, our videos would be just that much better. I know that it might be too late for any one to change to a short film for 4th quarter, but you can develop the technique now, and apply it to next year's 4th quarter, or even the Crazy 8's. If you haven't seen this movie yet, I suggest you try it out. See you soon. Bye!
Well, since my last project update, we have done quite a bit of work. I will first tell you what we have done, what we have left to do and if I think we will make it or not, like always.
Just recently we finished our script, and that will be posted below, and we feel pretty good about it. As you know, we have already posted up our TIAS, but you might not know that we posted some other info that might clear up the TIAS. That is the info. It talks about who everyone is and all of that.
All we have left to do is set up a day or two of filming with our actors, then filming it all, then editing it all. It will be quite a bit of work, good thing we have around 2 months to get it done! I am the main camera man, but I will be in a few shots, and Dalson is acting in more than half of it.
I think that we will be able to get it done, mainly because filming will only take a few more days, depending on when we schedule it, and also the editing shouldn't take too long if we film it all in sequence with good technical parts. I feel really good about this quarter, and I think that our project will turn out great.
Wish us luck with our project that is soon-to-be-finished! Hope you will enjoy it. Bye!
So with the trip over, we obviously had to go back to school. We were asked to write about our 3 favorite things on the trip. The biggest thing was obviously my birthday at Universal Studios. The second thing was the closing ceremonies. The final thing was the scavenger hunt.
It just so happened that my birthday was on the trip this year, and it just so happened that on my birthday we were at Universal Studios. We got to go on all the rides, and I got a little strawberry shortcake tower. It was real fun that day. We spent around 13 hours of the day on Universal Studios property.
At the closing ceremonies, there was lots of excitement and much nervousness. We first got in there and listened to the music there were playing for about 10-15 minutes, and then it began, they started it off and they started announcing the winners. In the end we won 1st in Spot Feature, 3rd in PSA, and honorable mentions for both Film and Broadcast Crazy 8's.
The last thing that I thought made it onto the top 3 things we did on the STN trip is the scavenger hunt we did the day before Crazy 8's. On the scavenger hunt we ran all around San Diego looking for different answers and places. It was a tiring, fun game. We ended up arriving to the final place last, but we did not get in last place because the winner is the one with the most points, not the one who finishes first, because time is only used as a tie breaker.
All-in-all, the trip was a lot of fun. It might not have had a lot of theme parks like last year, but it was still fun. I will see you later, bye!
About a month ago I started my own vimeo account, which my name is Kaden Keep in vimeo. I will try to post all the videos that I make onto this account. I am looking forward to using it because there is almost a unlimited amount of storage, but it is rationed weekly, and I am going to take advantage of that. I will be uploading videos of higher resolution there than I can here on this site. Also, with the vimeo account it I nice that you can embed a video code, instead of having to upload the video to this site, so that also goes much faster. I think that vimeo will be much help to me in my next few years, and if you ever see a way that I can improve my site, feel free to tell me, I will try to improve my vimeo account as much as possible. Below I will give you a link, and an example of what the embed code does for me. See you later, bye!
Example of embed code:
Today, we had breakfast in the room later than we have been having. After breakfast, we went down to get into the closing ceremonies! When we got in we waited for a while, but we started with the first announcements. After 3 or 4 announcements of the winners, they got to the middle school spot feature. First I will tell you that on Thursday night I asked Mr. M if he wanted to see our video then, or if he wanted to see it at the closing ceremonies, which he knows, only the 1st place winner's videos are shown. When they called the honorable mentions, it was not us, I was happy. Then they called third, I was slightly nervous, but still really happy. They called Second place and it was still not us, but I was still happy, but just as nervous. It was now or never, either we placed or didn't at this point. Then after that, something terrible happened. It was so terrible for the other teams in the competition that did not place, and definitely not our place, first! After that we slowly made our way to the PSA team, which won 3rd place, and then our two Crazy 8's teams both got honorable mention. After the closing ceremonies, we went back to the Fashion Valley Mall to get lunch, shop (in my case watch Fast and Furious 7), and then eat dinner. Then, we got ready for tomorrow, the day we leave for home, it's been a great trip, and I will be starting back my weekly blogs, not daily, so come back soon! Bye!
(P.S. I can not find a recording of the STN closing ceremonies right now, but I will check every once in a while for a link to post here so you can see it for yourself.)
I am in 8th grade in my school's Advanced Media class. I love this class and I have been having lots of fun in it. This past year we went to San Diego, where STN was held, and the year before it was in Orlando. This year it was in Atlanta, Georgia.
