This morning was finally the day that we found out the results of our competition, we had the closing ceremonies! We won quite a bit. We won in 8 out of the 9 competitions, the one we did not make it was the Crazy 8's Broadcast. We got 2 honorable mentions for movie trailer and music video. We got 3 second places, convention recap, spot feature, and nat package. We also got 3 first places, PSA, anchoring, and the Crazy 8's film team. After the closing ceremonies, we went straight to Six Flags. We only had a few hours there, but it was lots of fun. We all got to do most of the rides we wanted to and we were able to have a lot of fun. My favorite ride was the Superman rollercoaster. You would first sit in a chair and your feet would dangle. The ground then lowered from under you and the seat tilted so that you faced the ground. That is why it was called Superman, because you rode it like Superman would fly it. There was a loop in the middle of it and it felt different because you started at the top of it and went down, at the bottom, your back was facing the ground and it felt different going in a loop like that. We had a fun day, but a few people were not feeling too great. Well, I think that we will have fun tomorrow too! Bye!
Today was our second and last day of competition. Sorry, but I made a mistake in my last blog in saying that the closing ceremonies would be today, but they are actually tomorrow morning, but instead of the closing ceremonies, we went to an Atlanta Hawks game. We started out with breakout sessions, which I first did two of Les Rose's sessions, which he is really fun and he actually came out to visit us and help teach a media camp out on Kauai for us 2 years ago. I then went to the Once Upon A Time Session, and that was a little about you openings, hence once upon a time, and also the closings. It was then lunch and after we went to a session done by one of the workers for the TV show Babby Daddy. He talked to us a little about what he does there and how it works at a Sitcom , the type of show it is, and even showed us the episode 1 of season 5 that comes out on Wednesday, in 4 days. We didn't have time to see it all, but we did get to see the reavealing parts, and we got to hold on of the scripts. That one went a little long and after that there were only 2 more breakout sessions going on and they were both packed because there were only two versus the regular 5, where even then some are packed. We ended up not going to the 5th one. We all were downstairs when the PSA team turned in their project waiting for them. We then went to the game and the Atlanta Hawks beat the Grizzlies by more than 10. We had a lot of fun today and we will be having the closing ceremonies tomorrow morning at 9 here, which would be 3 in the morning now in Kauai because we start daylight savings tomorrow. Well, chaeck out the STN website if you want to watch it live or recorded. Well, bye!
Today was the first day of the competitions for STN. Today, first Spot Feature competed, which I am in, then shortly after we started the Music Video competition did too. A little later the Nat Sound Package team started. All three of us got it turned in on time. Our topic for Spot Feature was "Life in the Fast Lane". We were at first shocked because it was a little unexpected. We picked up our topic at 8, and we immediately started finding a story. We walked across the street to the Peachtree Center, and we were expectijg stores and restraunts, but the only part we found was the food court. we walked around real quick and looked at what there was. Kolten wanted to see if we could do it on a coffee shop, but as you would expect, they were busy at 8:10 in the morning. As we continued walking a restraunt opened up and was Panbury's Pie Cafe. We talked to the two ladies who were finishing setting up their shop and one of them was one of the owners. She seemed to know a little about what we were doing and why, and sbe said that she had been on TV before and that it didn't really bother her then so she thought that she would be fine doing the story with us. She was really friendly and helped us happily. It turned out that she had a pretty good story. We got some great b-roll, and still had an hour and a half left. We started to walk towards the original shop, but that started to take us outside of the contest map. We spent the last hour that was left filming a stand-up and then voice-overs. Everything turned out great and we were in the editing room on time. We had no problems while editing and we got through it all easily. We turned it in with 30 minutes to spare. After the contest I went to the 2 last breakout sessions. We then walked around trying to find a place to eat and we ended up at the CNN HQ food court. We had fun looking around there a little bit. We then came back and watched the rest of the Excellence Awards Ceremony, just while we were there a the Hawaii schools won about 6 awards total, and that was just 2 or 3 high schools. We then finished for the day to get ready for tomorrow, the second and last day of the competition, and the day we will discover the winners. Well, can't wait for tomorrow, come back to see what we won! Bye!
Sorry, there has been a problem with my blogs posting from my phone, I have fixed it now though, my first two blogs are now available.
Today was a very crazy day. We had to get up around 6 am to go to the Crazy 8's competition and we were still all tired from yesterday. We all got ready and we were told that our topic was Science and Technology. We were all a little worried because it is a kind of difficult topic. We all managed to find a pretty good story except for my group. We had a pretty weak story and we ended up getting help from our penpals at Castaic Middle School. We did a story about how they use the many Google applications in the classroom. We got it all in on time and they were pretty good. After the Crazy 8's we went and met up with our penpals and had dinner. We didn't really do a ton of eating but we did get to know each other. We then went to the Opening Ceremonies and we officially started STN 2016. Well, I'm competing in my contest tomorrow so I better finish up. Bye!
Sorry, but this blog and the one before it did not properly post, but if have now reposted them for you to enjoy.
Yesterday is when we officially started our trip at 7:00 pm. We met at the airport then, and went through the process for getting to the plan. We then had to wait until around 9:20 to start boarding the plane to LA. We took off around 9:55 and we arrived at LA at what was supposed to be 5 hours later, but we were an hour and 10 minutes early. We already had to wait about an hour and a half, but this added another hour. Once we got on the plane we had to wait about 3 hours before takeoff because of bad weather in Huston, our destination. That plane ride was about 3 hours. Once we were in Huston, we immediately went to our next gate, the good news was that our next flight was delayed for the same reason, so we just got right onto it. That flight was about 2 hours long. When we finally got out of the airport it was about 7:00 pm Atlanta time. We quickly got over to the hotel, and it is huge. I will post a picture of it when you are looking upwards from the second floor. We then had a problem with getting our rooms. We waited about 3 hours to get our rooms, then about 30 minutes to get our food after we finshed settling in our rooms. We ate for about an hour, then we all went back to our rooms to get ready for some well needed sleep. I woke up at about 6:10 yesterday morning, and I am only going to sleep at about 12. Thats about 42 hours of no sleep. I only couod sleep on the plane for about an hour and a half so I am tired. Well, hopefully I will not be so tired tomorrow, bye!
With the Star Wars Episode 7 just barely being released, they already have started production of the next Star Wars. They have even already released the first trailer, and I'm betting that there will be many more coming out soon. I a hoping for some more interesting effects and techniques, I really enjoyed the last one. It is expected to come out in May of next year, so there is still more than a year. Just watching the trailer you can tell that it is going to be great quality. Well, this is my last regular blog until next quarter. Starting this Wednesday I will be putting up a blog everyday while we are on our trip. Well, see you later, bye!
Stress stresses everyone out. I am lucky that I don't really get that stressed. Nothing really stresses me out. The only things that really stresses me is doing things solo in front of a crowd.
One of the main things that has stressed me out for the past 2 years is the Kauai Solo Ensemble Festival. I only get stressed for my solo, I don't get stressed doing an ensemble with one or two other people. Only doing things solo gets me. I also did one of my Magic Shows at the school talent show last year, and it was my first one by myself, without my sister or my brother, I have no problem doing it with one of them, but I did when I did it alone. I rushed through all of the tricks because of it.
I only get stressed during something that stresses me. During the editing for the STN competition, I am calm, even if there is only one minute left for editing and the video is still exporting. I don't get stressed. I do get stressed once I start playing my solo for the judge at the Solo Ensemble though.
The only way for me to get rid of the stress is by finishing what is making me stressed. If I am performing my solo then I will be stressed, but once I am finished I will be fine. The only way to get rid of my stress is by finishing what's causing it, so it's a good thing that I don't get stressed over too many things.
Well, this is my second to last regular blog, next week Tuesday night is when we leave for our trip! I will start posting blogs everyday until the end of the trip starting Wednesday the 9th. Well, come back soon for some more! Bye!
I am in 8th grade in my school's Advanced Media class. I love this class and I have been having lots of fun in it. This past year we went to San Diego, where STN was held, and the year before it was in Orlando. This year it was in Atlanta, Georgia.
