Today was the day of the tiresome scavenger hunt, and also the day that we got to meet our pen pals in person for the first time. First off, we went down to our meeting room, and had breakfast, which was french toast and fruit. After that we waited around for a while until it was time to start walking over to Petco Park. When we got to Petco Park, we met our tour guide and we started off with our tour. After the tour, we headed for the trolley station to ride it to Old Town, where our scavenger hunt began. We ran around there for a while, and then we took the trolley to Little Italy and then slowly made our way over by the USS Midway. It took us a while to figure out some of the answers. We were the ONLY group to finish last. Luckily, the placement is not from the time you take to complete it, it's the accuracy of the answers you submitted and so we got around 3rd place. After that we went to our meeting room again to eat dinner, which was spaghetti and after that we went to the fourth floor to meet our pen pals over by a fireplace. We exchanged our gifts, but then they had to leave so afterwards we made s'mores.we then went back to our rooms to clean up and go to bed, when while I was writing some of this I noticed a police chopper with a searchlight searching through the waters nearby, also some police cars on the over head bridge, and also finally an ambulance rushing over to the scene from a road right below us. After about 10 minutes, all of them slowly went away. That is all I have for today, so come back soon!
Today was the day we visited our second college campus. We first visited SDSU, San Diego States University, and we got a presentation from one of the professors that work there. After that we got lunch, and then a short tour of the dorms there. Afterwards, we waited around the campus until about one when we had our appointment with the KPBS tour kid. I think that the tour of their station was the best. I don't know how to tell you what I say, so I will show you in the photos below. After the tour, we went shopping at the Fashion Valley mall. There wasn't too much today, but it was still fun, see you later!
Today was the day that you can consider a "migrate". You can say that because today was the day that we drove over to San Diego. It was about a 2 and a half hour bus ride. I mostly played games with Dalson's and Micah. After we arrived at our hotel, we went in and got only the 2 rooms that were ready for us, and then we put all of our bags into the rooms. We had to run over and get lunch at the Seaport here by our hotel and then we rushed over to the USS Midway to get an audio tour. That was mostly everything we did today, but after all of that, we went to The Cheesecake Factory to get some dinner. The only thing is that we did it all in a rush, well, at least the walk to the USS Midway was really rushed. Today was great fun, but there have been some better days, but it was still great. See you later, bye!
Today was most definitely the best day so far. Today we spent 13 hours on Universal Studios property. Today was also my birthday! We woke up at 7:30 today to go get breakfast at the hotel next door that Dalson's family was staying at, and then after that we walked over to Universal Studios and we went in. I don't remember the exact order, but I will tell you what we did in Universal but not in the exact order. First we went down to the Jurrasic Park ride, then we went to the Transformers ride, and then the Revenge of the Mummy roller coaster/ride, and then we went up and did the Simpsons ride, and then finally we went to the water world show. After that we went and got lunch. After lunch I think we did the studio tram tour. After all that, we went and did the Despicable Me ride. After all of that it was around 6:30. We went back down to the first 3 rides and rode them all a couple more times. At about 8:30 we went out of the park and into city walk to eat dinner. After dinner, at about 10:00, we headed back for our hotel, and now we are packing up most of our stuff to get ready for the bus ride to San Diego tomorrow. It's getting late, so see you tomorrow!
Today was much more fun, and I think we all can agree. Today we first got on our bus and we went to get breakfast. After we got breakfast at McDonalds, we got back on the bus to head to USC, University of South California, the main thing we were going to do today. When we got to USC, we went and got a tour of most of the campus, that was more like a mini hike. After the mini hike, we went into the broadcast and communications center or something like that, and they had some amazing rooms for recording and broadcasting. After seeing all their facilities, we went into a conference room looking place and ate lunch. After that we viewed the athletic division of the university. After all of that we went to Hollywood city for about an hour, and then we came back and then went to the city walk to eat dinner. It was the best day out of the two days so far! See you soon!
So now, that we on officially on our STN trip, we will be doing a blog post for every day. Today was not much, mostly just travel. I had to wake up at 4 in the morning to get ready to go, and then leave at 4:30 to drive from Kalaheo to the airport, and then when we were pulling out of our neighborhood, a light popped on saying that we had a flat tire. We then drove back to our house and switched cars really quick. When we got there we did a bit of waiting and then we got into the planes, but then there was not much else. After we got off the two planes, we got on the bus and drove to our hotel. After we got set up in our hotel rooms, we walked over to city walk to do a little shopping and to get dinner. Overall it was mostly a crazy and tiring day, but I know it will be better tomorrow! See you later!
With STN in less than 2 weeks, it will be crazy once we get back from the break. We have already started packing our gear for the trip, and we still have to do some other things. So far, I have only packed our camera gear, I haven't done anything else for the trip yet. Even though it will be crazy, I think that this could be a lot of fun. I can't wait until we are actually there in San Diego. I remember last year when we went to Florida it was tons of fun. The only thing I don't like that will happen is that it is now Crazy 8's instead of Sweet 16. Part of the fun was working, or waiting, for 16 hours just to get the video done. With only 8 hours, it is more rushed and there is too little of time to do a great job. I think that even with only 8 hours for Crazy 8's, it will be tons of fun.
This past Sunday was the Krazy 8's practice. I was on the Broadcast team, and my separate group was with Kolten and Kaycee. Our topic was "out of the ordinary". I will tell you about what we did good on, and then what we didn't do too great on. Then finally, I will tell you if I think we need another practice.
We did good at not many things. I think the best thing my separate group had was having half of our story the better topic. There was not much else but that we had a good structure.
There was sadly much more bad things than good in our completed video. We did not have really any stories that were good. I think our biggest problem was the fact that most teams did not get their individual videos to the final editor in time.
I will have the video posted below, feel free to give me any advice to how you think the video could have been better. Check back soon! Less than 2 weeks until STN!
I am in 8th grade in my school's Advanced Media class. I love this class and I have been having lots of fun in it. This past year we went to San Diego, where STN was held, and the year before it was in Orlando. This year it was in Atlanta, Georgia.
