Even though I watched it a while ago, I am going to finally do a blog on the movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Part of waiting so long is so that I don't ruin it for anyone else, by now most people have seen it. Some of the things I liked about the movie was everything. I liked the story a lot and I liked the graphics. Nothing looked fake, part of that is because nothing was computer generated, but even some of the props that were used that would normally be really hard to use and look good looked great. The movie also had many great techniques and interesting shots. I noticed how there were one that started upside-down and then turned right-side up. I have only seen that used in a couple of movies. It also had great audio. I liked how it ended also, hopefully they do actually make another, or else there will be many people out to get Disney. Not that we really do too many films, but we do need interesting shots. I suggest that whenever you watch a movie or anything else, you should watch the camera movements, and then try to duplicate them where it seems fit. Overall, i think it was a great movie. Well, com back soon for soms more!
YouTube is a pretty big video site. Millions of people have a YouTube account. In fact, as of 2014, there are 300 hours of new videos is uploaded every minute onto YouTube. With the millions of YouTubers, my favorite would probably be Studio C.
Studio C is one of the many programs that BYUtv runs, a media productions class for the college BYU. BYUtv has many shows, and even their own TV channel. Some of their work is on Netflix and other places like that. Studio C is only sketches, ever Monday, Wednesday, and Friday they release new videos. They have some pretty funny ones, Studio C made one viral video that you might of heard of. It is "Top Soccer Shootout Ever with Scott Sterling". It is a short video about one of the actors, Scott Sterling, is guarding a goal during a soccer shootout. Every singe kick it somehow finds it's way to the same place, I will post the video down below so you can find out where it hit for yourself.
Studio C is for anyone. All of their content is PG, it is hosted by BYU, and BYU has guidelines about mature content, so there is never any profanity or really anything else, kissing is the worst that I have seen. They have jokes that almost anyone can understand and can be a lot of fun to just browse all of their videos, I have wasted so much time watching them.
Studio C is great for whenever you feel like a laugh, or whenever you are bored. It's fun and clean so you don't really have to worry about anything. Once you start watching them, you won't be able to get enough. I still re-watch some of my favorites and still laugh about them.
I will post some of my favorites along with the soccer shootout below. I think that everyone should check them out, the only reason you don't really hear about them is because no one really knows about them. I hope you enjoy!
One of my favorite ones of them all
I know that it has been a while since the movie came out, but we just got the DVD of Jurassic World. I have been thinking about it and why it is better than the others. I think that one of the best parts is that all the others, the dinosaurs win in the end and the people don't even come close to defeating them. In this new one, they teamed up with the dinosaurs to help defeat one that was causing all of the havoc, and they prevailed in the end. I also liked the techniques that they used in making the movie. They have all kinds of cool and creative shots. They also have a really great storyline. I think that if we could use some of these shots and storyline techniques in our short films, then they would be much better. Well, I'll leave the trailer down below and come back soon for some more. Bye!
This past Martin Luther King Jr. holiday we had our 3rd STN practice. I think that it went pretty good. We probably did our best that we have ever done.
We got a good story this practice and we chose the best story that we had available. We also had good shots. We were good on both the technical and story side of the video, and we got it turned in about 30 minutes early.
We could have done a lot better on b-roll though. We had barely any b-roll, there was only about 9 shots, but they were long ones. We were able to make due with what we had, but it was not the best. We had good b-roll, but just not enough. We also did not do too well on the voice overs, we messed up on one.
There was nothing that we really failed at, but we did not have it perfect. We did definitely do the worst on getting enough b-roll. The next was probably audio. The best thing was the interviews.
Overall, this practice has been our best yet. We did good on almost everything. Also, we need to say what contest we want to go into for Crazy 8's. I want to go into the News Magazine contest. Well, come back soon for some more!
With all goals, you make them and you try to complete them. I didn't complete all of my goals from last quarter, but that can happen. I will just have to try harder this quarter.
I did not really accomplish my goal to get my blogs done sooner as you can tell from this one, but I have gotten more done by Saturday than I use to. I still put off school work and my project off a little until the end, but I don't wait as long any more.
I will continue to try and get my blogs done earlier. I improved last quarter, so I might just improve again to meet the goal. I am going to try harder to get my blogs done sooner.
Another goal I will set is to be as prepared as I can for STN. This year since the competition is before everything else on our trip, I was thinking I could learn about the location so can get a better idea of what we have to work with for spot feature. I think that it will help us find a story at the competition.
I will also try to make my best PSA yet. I don't think that my past PSA's have been very good, but I will try to make a better one this year. I have never really been that great at coming up with things like PSA's and movie trailers and things like that. I am going to try to change that though.
With all goals, you should set them high, but not too high that you wont be able to accomplish them. I don't think that these goals are too hard for me, so I will try my best to complete them. Well, come back soon for some more!
For Christmas my family got the first 6 Fast and Furious movies. We have been watching them all and now I have seen all 7. I think that of the first 6, number 5 is my favorite. I watched it once before but I had wanted to watch it again with the rest of my family. This second time I paid a little more attention to the technical side of it. I noticed how the make the effect of the car bouncing and shaking very slightly when you are in the cab, even though I it was done against a green screen, they simulated the effects, little things like those we don't necessarily notice, but our sub-conscious minds do, and help make the video come to life better. I also noticed that in one shot they didn't use the camera like you normally would. They had a screen that was monitoring the team and it showed nothing but the black outline of the screen and the team with some old screen effects to make it look like a security screen. I thought how that actually happens more than you think, but how you never really notice it. When I did notice it, it made the video a little more interesting to have a variety of shots. Overall I think that it was a great video and that they had some cool techniques. Come back soon for some more. Bye!
I am in 8th grade in my school's Advanced Media class. I love this class and I have been having lots of fun in it. This past year we went to San Diego, where STN was held, and the year before it was in Orlando. This year it was in Atlanta, Georgia.
